Tumeric is often prepared as a food spice for its earthy, neutral, and dry palette, but most often is used in tandem with other spices such as ginger, cumin, cardamom, coriander, and curry, to name a few. It has a more bland flavor on its own, and is more often used for its medicinal and health remedy purposes. These include but are not limited to: fighting inflammation, anti-oxidant properties, boosting the function of the heart, and preventing brain disorders such as Alzheimer's and dementia. It also has cancer fighting properties as it helps the body rid itself of mucous, and is naturally alkaline.
